Well, much of this cool, snowy and wet spring has been a bit difficult to get motivated. There is a lot to celebrate in May though; budding flowers “Oh and MOM”! Our May Flowers newsletter will focus on moms and women’s cycling. Sadly, the number of females that ride bicycles is lower than our male counterparts. And we want to know why? There are so many incredible benefits that come from riding.

CYCLING BENEFITS

There are multiple benefits to be gained from cycling; both physically and environmentally. And the good news is you don’t have to go hundreds of miles to reap the rewards. Simply start riding to work and now you’ve achieved your required daily exercise. 

• Cardiovascular Endurance – Cycling provides the same cardiovascular benefits as other higher impact aerobic activities; such as running and walking.
• Muscular Strength – Your legs and butt will love you for adding cycling to your fitness regimen. Adding strength to your lower body helps protect your knees and feet; making other day to day tasks easier. If there are some climbs on your commute this will help strengthen you core and arms as well.
• Stress Relief – Hop on your bike and now you feel like a kid again. Take time on your bike to let your worries go in the wind. Even if its only for a bit of your day; riding a bike gives you time for just you. 
• Wallet – Put some money back into your wallet instead of the gas pumps. 
• Community – Giving passing cyclists a nod and a smile will give you a whole new community to connect with.
• Environment – Parking your car will cut down on greenhouse emissions and reduce your carbon footprint in your community.

When you look at those positives and to think there are many more; our question to you is “Why Not?”

BIKES FOR MOMS

Mom was there to give you a hand (PUSH) when your training wheels came off your first bike. And cleaned out the cuts when your ride didn’t go exactly how you planned.
